Rodz Features & Tech - The Hunnert Car Pile-Up (Five hundred rides showed up to participate in the Midwest's most down-to-earth, no-trophy, all-fun hot rod show), The Earl Of Morgan (It started its life as a 1939 Mercury and had it fallen into the wrong hands, it just might have stayed that way forever. Luckily the '39 fell into the hands of manman Earl Steen), King Of Klubs #1 (This was the first annual two-day show put on by The Lifters in San Diego. There aren't too many shows where you can run what you brung. Some of these guys just couldn't get enough, running their rides until they ran out of gas), 2004 Mooneyes Xmas Show (A kustom kulture art and car extravaganza carrying on in the tradition of Dean Moon, an original innovator), Breathe Little Y-Block, Breathe (The exception to the rule, "Never pay someone else to do something I can do myself"), No Muff Too Tuff (When Geno determined it was time to give the Rodz some dual-exhaust, he called up the best place in town to get the exhaust flowing. Pro Muffler Shop, owned by Jim Long in Delray Beach, Florida), Shifty Biz (The inside lowdown from the Shifters CC, pioneers of the hot rod scene in SoCal), German Rods (No $15,000 paint jobs. No computer things with a shit load of wires. Just scratch-your-head-and-figure-it-out technology with no more than four wires running from the engine and 2/65 AC), Henry's Grand Finale (Scott Stewart's '47 Ford coupe is one of those cars that we all like to look at over and over again. It looks just right, has the right stance, the right period accessories and would make Henry Ford proud), Ol' School SInce Grade School (Russ Gagliano, Jr's first modified car was the family grocery getter. A '54 Chevy Bel Air 230 Automatic six-banger. On the days he drove it, he would modify it to look ol' school in the morning and change it back to the family car on the way home), Chop A '40 Fordor (Chopping a top is the apex of customizing. It is a combination of planning, measuring, cutting, welding and finishing. It can make or break your custom car. Eddie Paul shows how), Seek & Destroy T-Bucket (Nine months worth of night and weekend work turned what was once a hay-filled tub at the Hunnert Car Pileup into a T-Bucket on a mission), Hell Hath Fury (Back in the day, the 1961 Plymouth was voted "ugliest car of 1961", but with a little creativity and some slamming and shaving, Mike Charelian exposed sleek lines and aerodynamic capabilities and honed them to perfection), Mad Max Creations (While some artists prefer to work with oil paints, the guys at MMC prefers to work with metal. From wrought iron fences to retro styled neon light marquees for local businesses. Mad Max Creations does it all. But what this shop really specializes in is Classic American iron Hot-rods, customs and even motorcycles) Departments - Back Fire-Letters, The Lowdown-Editorial, Ol Skool Philosophy Class, Drivin' Around-Events, Greezy's Tech Tips, Rodz Merchandise, Kar Tunes-Music, Happy Daz', New Kool Stuff, Burnin' Rubber

Rodz Features & Tech - The Rumblers Kustom Hills And Hot Rod Thrills (New York in August is a mess of sweat and slime. Combined with the car-eating pot holes, tooth-rattling bridge expansion joints and the Brooklyn Queens Expressway and you have the backdrop to the annual Rumblers Kustom Kolls and Hot Rod Thrills Show); Getting Drilled - How To Drill Holes (An article about drilling holes? Are we nuts? Not the last time we checked. If you've ever drilled a hole into something, bolted it down, then had the damned thing break or fall off a few days or miles later, you're probably looking at an article of interest); Jim Radtke's Stude (Jim Radtke has been building rods since high school in 1966. The man has been around awhile and knows his stuff as you can tell from this fine specimen, a '42 Stude); Chevillac (Bobby has just gotten off a five month stint on crutches after a bad wreck on his Shovelhead. He was looking to get into a car since the docs told him that his two-wheeling days were over for good. Bobby scored a sweet deal on this 1952 Chevy Fleetline last winter); Chop A '40 Fordor Part 2 (This is the second installment to the top chopping series on Eddie Paul's 1940 Ford Fordor. See OSR #11 for the first installment); Drive-Invasion 2005 Dixie Fried Style (Filled with more DIY attitude than you can shake a stick at, the annual Drive-Invasion is a celebration of horsepower, sonic assault and classic Hollywood trash as only the Dirty South could provide); Rust Rocket - Early Riders '27 T Dragster (Every once in a while you'll find a hot rod that combines breathtaking beauty and jaw-dropping performance. This isn't that hot rod. As cool as it looks, this rust-encrusted T doesn't fit anybody's definition of pretty. But that was never the plan); Bonneville (The Bonneville Salt Flats, the mecca for racing enthusiasts, is Utah's most beautiful natural wonder and one of the world's most incredible sights); Cheater Carl's '29 Roadster (We all know what Milwaukee is famous for - Harley-Davidson, Pabst Blue Ribbon and (of course) cheese. But there's also Carl Urbaniak's '29 Model A Standard Roadster); Mick Silvio's Knuck Bobber (When one uses the word bobber, Mike Silvio's period perfect '47 Knucklehead is what you should be describing. This bike alone puts Cyclemo's Motorcycle Museum in Nashville, Tennessee on another level); Tattooed Cuban Trailer Trash (Whatduh hell is "Tattooed Cuban Trailor Trash"? A wickedly funny Jason Sanabia perched in a modified '36 Ford cab made of "Genuine Satanic Parts and trash-salvage from a totaled '64 Buick"); Crash Of The Model A (The hot rod was destroyed. We were alive and scared, but it will take more than a wayward Buick to kill us); Rock Star Rod (When Paul Galaxy takes center stage to strike up a rockabilly tune with his band, you'd better know everyone in his audience pays attention. And when Paul cruises his way into a rod run, everyone in the parking lot pays attention, too); Riveted And Ready (It only took Jim Benitez three months to finish this neat little '28 pickup); Seattle Blessing Of The Cars (Rat Rod is acting up? Possessed with Demons? You gotta get your ride blessed by a real ordained minister. Come one, come all, to the Seattle Blessing of the Cars. Salvation for your ride in 2005); Movin' Man's '50 Chevy Pick 'Em Up Truck (Rob Stannard is a movin' man that's paid his dues hauling ass all over the country in big rigs, gettin' the goods from Point A to Point B. Being a man of the road, he had some strong ideas about what he wanted as a daily driver); Jalopy Jump And Jive (A perfect follow-up to the Ramblers show in NYC was the 3rd Annual Jalopy Jump & Jive, held in Asbury Park, New Jersey) Departments - Back Fire - Letters; The Lowdown - Editorial; Greezy's Tech Tricks; Ol Skool Philosophy Class; Drivin' Around - Events; Kar Tunes - Music; Rodz Merchandise; Happy Daz'; New Kool Stuff; Burnin' Rubber

Rodz Features & Tech - Bill Hulit's '32 Ford (A couple of years ago, Bill Hulit decided that enough was enough, he sold his garage business and retired...albeit retired with the sole intention of working full-time on his beloved '32 Ford hot rods); Viva Las Vegas (Viva Las Vegas has become the place to be for traditional hot rodders. People drive thousands of miles in their rods to attend - to see and be seen at Viva. This year was no different); Two Friends With The Same Tastes (Kustom Mercurys! It was a kind of off-hand comment by Bo Huff that drew the magazine's attention to two low-slung Mercurys on display at the Ventura Swap Meet and Car Show); Early Ignition Basics Part 2 (Be sure not to miss out on this exciting sequel by Josh Mills); Paint N' Primer (About 100 or so cars cruised into John Metalf Park in Fountain, ColoRODO. Jusat sough of ColoRODO Springs, at the invitation of Back Street Kustoms owner Dave Pareso for his 4th Annual Paint n' Primer event); Most Likely To Get...Pulled Over? (Ever wonder why cops pull over the coolest cars? It's so they can get a better look without busting themselves, that's why. And so it was for Harley Riker and his 1940 Plymouth truck known as the "Chrome Angel"); Twin Spin (Rarely do we find ourselves standing in the path of salt spray from the rear whitewalls of a '38 Studebaker truck and a '39 Chevy truck digging into wet salt. It stings worse than you think. Like in the aftermath of a third grade snowball ambush, we wiped the salt from our faces and cameras, beginning to understand the nature of Bonneville); Bo Huff's Custom Car Zone Museum (On a recent trip to Utah, we stopped by Bo Huff's Museum in East Carbon and were amazed at not only the quanity, but the quality of what we saw); Outkast's Cruise In And Hot Rod Show (It all took place on the sweeping prairie at a place called Mitchel, South Dakota. It's the home of the one and only Corn Palace. Main Street was filled with some of the Upper Midwest's finest hot rods, rat rods and custome); Zippo Man's '48 F1 (When a beautiful lady asks you "Got a light?", you'd better have some matches, boys. If you don't, you may have lost the perfect opportunity to meet a hot dame. Shame on you. A Zippo man always comes prepared and is never caught without a light); Shop Tour - Streamline (We get to visit some really cool places and meet some fellow gearheads once and a whle. One of those occassions presented itself recently during a trip to Denver, Colorado. While in the Mile High City, we stopped in to visit the store, plant and warehouse for Streamline Auto Parts and Gennie Shifters); Chip-O-Rama (On a Friday morning, July 29th, 2005, that first "it's-too-late-to-chicken-out-now" cut was made on Jeff Wendt's '51 Chevy twice door by the legendary kustomizer Bill Hines); Eddie Paul's Rat Rod Wrecker (We all missed Eddie Paul last issue. But he does have a good excuse...he was building a Mater, the rat rod wrecker that stars in Pixer's new animated film, CARS); The Rockabilly Rave '06 (So what if the weather's usually hot and sunny in California and Vegas? Try attending a four-day Rockabilly show on the South coast of England in the middle of English winter with the wind whipping in from the sea and temperatures hovering around freezing point. That'll sort out the real rockabillys from the weekend wannabees, yes sirree) Departments - Back Fire - Letters; The Lowdown - Editorial; Greezy's Tech Tips; Philosophy Class; Drivin' Around - Events; Rodz Merchandise; Kar Tunes - Music; Happy Daz'; New Kool Stuff; Burnin' Rubber
