Three color 5 1/2" x 13 3/4" ad that is for Spam From Hormel Foods. The ad starts off with the mother asking the two boys who have been playing in her house, "What will you G-Men have for lunch?". The boys, both standing there in disguise say that "SPAMwiches sure suit this bunch!". Next there is a tray filled with meat, olives, cheese and a few hard boiled eggs. The card says "SPAM - Slice cold SPAM and butter your bread. You may add sliced hard egg, Russian dressing...cream cheese and horseradish - or invent your own combination". Then, a lady says "Baked SPAM is easy to make. I just pop a whole SPAM into my oven, baste it three times with the sauce described on the label...and in 25 minutes my SPAM dinner's on the table". Next, there stands a man who says "Try SPAM and salad, too. Cold or hot, this pure pork product hits the spot. SPAM, the meat of many uses, comes only in the 12 oz. can that needs no refrigeration".

Hormel 5

Three color 5 1/4" x 13 3/4" ad that is for Spam Pork Shoulder Meat with Ham Meat Added. This ad also has George Burns and Gracie Allen as a part of the ad, starting with George asking "Gracie, what the best way to cook an egg?" and, her answer is "With SPAM". It then gives the recipe for "SPAM 'n' Eggs by Gracie" which is to "Quickly brown quarter-inch thick slices of SPAM in frying-pan, serve with fried eggs. Makes a grand Sunday morning breakfast. It's just one of many tricks you can do with the Hormel meat of many uses". Below these it shows George staring at a sliced-up bit of SPAM and he shouts, "Look, Gracie, it's a SPAM bake" as Gracie in the next picture, looking at a plate of waffles and SPAM says, "Don't be silly George, it's SPAM 'n' waffles".

Hormel 6

Full color 9 1/2" x 13 1/2" ad for their Chile that is Flavor Sealed in a can. Prominent in the picture is a bowl filled to the brim with this product and above this is the headline saying that "Here's why more people buy Hormel Chile". There are four ladies taking time out from their grocery shopping to offer their favorite reasons. One says that "It has more good lean beef (1/3 more than U.S. Government standard)" while another offers that "It haws that extra delicious sauce - not too hot, not too mild, just right!". The third gives another good reason claiming that "It's sensibly priced = a hearty main dish for two from the one pound can for about 25 cents a serving" and the fourth concludes that "No wonder it's America's favorite by better than 2 to 1!".

Hormel 1

Full color 10" x 13" ad for their Chili with a tie-in to the National Football League. There is a picture of a big pot of chili in the background with several bottles of spices, a few hunks of meat, two tomatoes, a few peppers and a can of Hormel Chili. On the wall behind this scene are several pictures of old-time football players in action, old-time now not old-time then. The headline says that "Hormel makes real chili...the official choice of the National Football League" while on the side is an "Actual NFL Training Table Menu" with Hormel Chili being near the top. This ad is larger than my scanner bed so the outer edges of the ad will not be visible in the scanned view.

Hormel 2

Full color 10" x 14" ad for the surprisingly strong taste of a can of Hormel Chili. The top of the ad has, I think, twelve photos of people, in their varied ways, enjoying their Hormel Chili. The words that start halfway down are words that will get your attention. They say that "It's Not Exactly Tame!". The ad text says "There's a lively tang to the taste of Hormel Chili. The flavor of high-spirited spices simmered with lean beef and plump beans. It's real chili.". As I type these words I think that I will take a pause now to have some of this.
