You are urged to "Move up to Championship power...Move up to a BSA" and reports that "Sammy Tanner sets new Record at 15 Mile National Championship!". 650 Twins

Black and white 5" x 5 1/4" ad for the Next Step Up in Motorcycles. There is a picture of a happy couple wearing light-colored jackets and helmets with no face shields on the road riding a BSA 650. The headline urges you to "Advance to Powerful motorcycling!" . The text talks about these bikes able to be handled with the ease of a lightweight yet being able to power the driver and a passenger up hills without the need to downshift. It promises to be able to "cruise all day at maximum highway limits" and to have "big power in reserve for safety in traffic". The ad gives the addresses of the East and West coast distributors and urges everyone to write in for details or illustrations.

BSA
Spitfire III

Black and white 5" x 5 1/4" ad that gives a very blunt analysis of what this motorcycle can do. The headline, next to a stopwatch that verifies what the headline is saying, states "0 to 60 in 5.4 seconds". There is an asterisk that indicates this was done in a Cycle World Road Test in April 1967 and shows a side view of this powerful beast. The text begins by saying that "If that's not quick enough, get a rocket". Even though this taunt brings back memories of the Roadrunner and Wiley Coyote cartoons the text claims that Cycle World has annointed this motorcycle as the "Fastest street machine under 750 cc...tested". It then mentions that "Asphalt tearing torque isn't everything", tosses out a few more items and urges you to go see your BSA dealer.

BSA Thunderbolt
Full color 7 3/4" x 11" ad with a picture of a Thunderbolt with a black and chrome color scheme parked outside of a building made of large white blocks of stone with a proper soldier nearby seated upon his horse while wearing the formal attire of his position. Positioned by the BSA are two attractive ladies adorned in their proper attire, both with black leather jackets and tight pants that start somewhere south of where the jackets end. One is seated on the seat of the BSA while the other stands nearby and they both have facial expressons that would do more to quell a disturbance than the official on a horse. The text mentions many of the performance features that were part of every BSA Thunderbolt built at this time and talked about blowing past 100 mph in seconds. At the bottom of the page are the four posters that were included in their Big BSA Poster Bag for $2.00 per set and the picture in this ad is one of those.

Full color 8" x 11" ad for this powerful, single-cylinder, off-road motorcycle. The reader's immediate attention is drawn to the doe-eyed young lady wearing a brown dress that is only partially cinched up in the front but, above this lady, is a picture of a couple sitting and enjoying the view of a cove with the BSA Victor Special that they supposedly rode up on parked nearby. The headline calls these bikes "The Bold Way to Make Time" and the text mentions a few of the features and specifications that these bikes would offer you. Trail Bikes

Full color 8 1/4" x 10 3/4" Eight-Page Brochure for the Five Trail Bikes that BSA was offering to the public in 1971. I have scanned and shown the first and eighth pages with the first page showing a grassy field in a rolling landscape with a line of motorcycles coming from left to right under the headline that "The British are Coming (with a first)". The second and third pages have the headline introducing "The World's First 500cc Trail Bikes over a picture of a man riding a BSA Gold Star 500-SS (B-50SS). These pages also include specifications as well as information on the three types offered, what the bikes come with and the fact that they were "bred-on-the-trail by John Banks, champion British rider". Pages four and five are entitled "Two more Ways to Ride 500 and Take Over the Country" and have pictures and specifications for the BSA Victor 500-Trail (B-50T) and the BSA Victor 500-MX (B-50MX). Pages six and seven show the "Two 250s That Proved Themselves Before You Race Them". These pages have pictures along with specifications for the BSA Gold Star 250-SS (B-25SS) and the BSA Victor 250-Trail (B-25T). The eighth page has pictures that show some of the features that are on these bikes.
