Maidenform Ads

Looking at the counters on my pages I have noticed that this page is being visited quite often these days, in fact, many people seem to have this page bookmarked. For this reason I will try and find and list as many of these ads as I can. They are few and far between but I will do what I can. Most of these ads seem to have appeared in one issue of a magazine only so the number of ads to be found are limited. I welcome any emails about specific ads you are looking for or questions you may have.

These are just a small portion of the ads that we have for sale. None of these are reproductions, all are original. Most of these are large ads, larger than our scanner bed. Therefore the view shown on the page may not completely show the ad. They are placed in a plastic bag with a cardboard backboard for protection. Please e-mail us with your specific interests.

These ads are listed in chronological order with the oldest ads first

During my youth I read many things, including Mad Magazine. One of the things that I still remember from the magazine's early issues was their take-off's of the "I dreamed I was ----- in my Maidenform bra". Seeing these original ads reminds me of some of those humorous moments.

Black and white 2 1/2" x 6" wartime ad for their Brassieres. As an indication of what was important at that difficult time in the life of the world the opening headline of this ad declares that "For 'Length of Service' you can always depend on Brassieres by Maiden Form". The text indicates that there is not a steady stream of this product coming to your local store and it asks you, "Don't be discouraged" because "Dealers receive regular shipments, so try again". There is a picture of a smiling brunette wearing a Maiden Form and, like every other ad during this time, it urges you to "Buy U.S. War Bonds".

Full color 9 1/2" x 13" ad for their New Variette bra. This ad has a picture of a lady standing in the middle of a field wearing a floor-length white skirt and a white Variette bra as she holds what is probably a flowery blouse under her left arm. With her right gloved hand she has reached over and is holding onto the horn of a very sedate bull that is standing next to her and the headline has her saying "I dreamed I took the bull by the horns...in my Maidenform bra". The text mentions some of the built-in features of this item and says that "You'll find this very same Variette bra built into the dreamy new collection of 1962 Maidenform Swimsuits". From the fearless look on the face of the model I think that Maidenform missed the boat by not trying to convince people to wear this bra everytime you had a speech to deliver or something else that would normally cause fear. In fact I have to wonder if some baseball players might have worn this bra whenever they would be scheduled to face a pitcher that would normally give them troubles.
