These are just a small portion of the ads that we have for sale. None of these are reproductions, all are original. Most of these are large ads, larger than our scanner bed. Full color 7 3/4" x 10 3/4" ad for their Mother-Daughter Chambrays. The ad has a picture of a mother adjusting her daughter's outfit that perfectly matches her own. The ad headline calls these Companion Colors and claims that "Because Avondale fabrics are dyed-in-the-yarn, you get the exact same colors in solid shades and stripes".

The ad has photos of ladies modeling the Anchors Aweigh, Diplomat, Classic Drama and the Back Talk styles and has descriptions and prices. Country Tweeds
.Black and white 8" x 10 3/4" ad for their Kashmoor Coats. There is a picture of a lady standing with her arms crossed as she stands with confidence and looks at the camera. The text talks about the Einiger Mill's wonder-wearing wool-nylon fabric and the insulated lining from Milium. The ad also mentions the ten colors available, all with dynamic names, and gives a price of $85.

Women's Clothing 3

Fashion Frocks
Full color 8" x 11" ad that explains that this company is, despite wartime restrictions, still managing to make dresses that are stylish and built with quality while, at the same time, making an unknown number of Parachutes that have helped to save an untold number of lives of American aviators. The headline calls them "Dependable! on the war front - on the home front" and says they manufacturer "Parachutes for our 'Soldiers of the Sky'" and "Dresses for our 'Soldiers of the Home'". The top part of the ad talks about the Parachutes and the importance of quality which needs to built into one of these with the number and destination being considered "military secrets". The bottom part of the ad talks about the dresses that are available in somewhat of a limited quantity with the same process of being sold by Home Service Representatives. They speak of how this is a more sensible method what with the gas rationing that had to be in effect throughout the war. The claim the prices have never been inflated still being in the $3.98 to $14.98 range.

.Full color 9 1/2" x 13 1/2" ad for their Wool Coats. There is a picture of a warmly dressed woman wearing a Forstmann coat of lavender with a close-up of the product behind her. Prominent is the label and the caption that assures us that "This label identifies the finest woolens in the world".

.Black and white 4 3/4" x 12 1/2" ad for their Weathervanes tailored in Rayon. There is a picture of a stylish-looking woman posing in this wearable item which, we are told, cost an amazing twenty-five dollars.

Joselli
Black and white 9 1/2" x 13 1/2" ad for their Outfits that will stand up to "many long and comfortable hours of travel". There is a picture of a woman standing at the doorway of an airplane wearing one of these outfits and the ad claims that she is as "Striking as a Mexican Sunset" and mentions a price of about $30.

Maidenform
Full color 10" x 12 1/2" ad for their Sportmaker separates. The ad has a picture of a horse-racing track where three ladies dressed in different outfits are perched upon a stuffed horse on the track and are looking back as though they are winning a race with something. The ad headline claims that "no one can top Sportmaker in the stretch {except Sportmaker}" and the ad gives a variety of prices for these items. Black and white 4" x 12" ad for their Knitted Wear with special emphasis on their Sunday Night Knit outfit. There is a photo of a woman posing in this outfit in front of a block building. It seems to be a bit windy because she is wearing a sweater and is holding her hat with the hand that is not holding her purse. The text discusses how many different places an outfit like this will be appropriate to wear into. They call it "A fabric created of Crown Rayon---It's Tested"

The text talks about the many ways that women can achieve style and claims that the 37 years experience that National has makes them a good candidate to provide it. They claim to be selling $50,000,000 worth of merchandise each year and urge you to look at the National Book which also has clothes for men.

Priestley's
Black and white 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" ad for their White Silk Warp Fabrics that will easily change a gown from ho-hum to amazing. There are two piectures of a lady getting dressed with the help of another woman. In the left-hand picture, labeled "Look on this Picture", we see what they consider unacceptable. In the right-hand picture, after the addition of Priestley's White Silk Warp Fabrics with the caption saying "And then on this", an amazing transformation has taken place. This product is claimed to be "A Splendid Christmas Present".

Townfield's
Black and white 4 3/4" x 13 1/2" ad for their Two-Piece Gadabout. There is a picture of a woman wearing one of these outfits standing in front of a large-blocked building holding onto her wide-brimmed hat with one hand. The text talks about its "luscious crease-resistant linen-like fabric with the newest long lines" with ten different colors to choose from. The sizes available were 12 to 20 and the prices were about 15 dollars.

Trimingham's
Black and white 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" ad for their Tweed Suits. There is a picture of a lady outfitted in one of these suits with the caption saying that "Ladies Like Linton". The ad mentions the six colors it was available in and the five rows of stitching in the lapels and pockets. These could be purchased "At the little pink shop opposite the ship" in Bermuda and the price was given as eight pounds and ten shillings.
