Broadcasting Ads

These are just a small portion of the ads that we have for sale. None of these are reproductions, all are original. Most of these are large ads, larger than our scanner bed. Therefore the view shown on the page may not completely show the ad. They are placed in a plastic bag with a cardboard backboard for protection. Please e-mail us with your specific interests.

Crosley Broadcasting
Black and white 9 1/2" x 13" ad for their Broadcasting Corporation. The ad has a picture of a stuffed doll sitting in a appropriately-sized chair with the headline saying that "She's a Doll...". The ad text talks about the Ruth Lyons show that was broadcast by Crosley stations in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus and Indianapolis as well as from Clear Channel radio station WLW. It talks about the annual Christmas Fund run by her that had raised $2,256,749 that year and mentioned some of the things that would be done with this money. This ad is larger than my scanner bed so the outer edges of the ad will not be visible in the scanned view.

Philco
Black and white 9 1/2" x 13 1/2" ad that alerted radio listeners to the fact that "Beginning Wednesday October 16, Philco invites you to listen to Bing Crosby". There is a large photo of the smiling crooner wearing a polka-dot bow-tie and the text talks about "Philco Radio Time" presenting "radio's greatest singing personality" every Wednesday at 10:00 in the east and 9:00 in the west. Philco identifies itself as the "world's largest radio manufacturer" that is sponsoring Bing Crosby over the ABC Network.
