The ad headline is "Courage...Your Heritage" and the ad talks about the important part that women are doing to help win the war. Full color 5" x 13" wartime ad talks about the Avon Medallion of Honor which is given to Women of Achievement as decided by a committee consisting of C. Mildred Thompson, Gladys Swarthout and Fannie Hurst. This particular award is going to Lieut. Lois Brownell, U.S.N.R "as a symbol of appreciation of the wonderful achievements of the WAVES". The only reference to cosmetics in this ad is the statement to welcome your Avon representative when she calls. The ad has a green background and features a wreath framed drawing of a 19th Century couple bringing presents to a decorated house as the snow begins to fall. Loretta I think is sitting on the floor with the red dress she is wearing spread out around her but the dress she has on is so huge that I am really not sure how she is able to walk without an accompinament of at least four people. She is holding a gift set in her hands with several; more items spread out behind her. There are more items in the ad and the headline says that "Choosing gifts is so convenient the Avon way" and Loretta talks about the ease of shopping from the comfort of your own living room. With the hassle of Christmas coming and Avon just a phone call away you are urged to "Welcome her when she calls".
