Oldsmobile Futuramic 98 - Black and white 10" x 13 1/2" ad that shows a drawing of a couple sitting in what is called a Futuramic Oldsmobile. They refer to it as Futuramic eleven times in this ad so I have to assume that they were calling it that. The ad has the word FUTURAMIC on an angle at the top of the ad and has it at the bottom of the ad, on an angle again, just before the word Oldsmobile. The ad text claims that "Everywhere it goes, this new Futuramic Oldsmobile causes a stir. People look at it. The like it! They talk about it. They point out the smoothly rounded Futuramic fenders - the massive, modern Futuramic hood - the fleet, forward-looking Futuramic profile. It's Futuramic in performance, too...with the 'no-clutch, no-shift' driving ease and Whirlaway action of Oldsmobile's thrilling Hydra-Matic Drive. See the Futuramic Oldsmobile today...and see why it's the 'talk-of-the-town' in every town. (General Motors' Hydra-Matic Drive optional at extra cost in all new Oldsmobiles - the Futuramic '98', Dynamic '60' and '70'". | July 1948 Country Gentleman |

Oldsmobile 98 - Full color 9 3/4" x 13 1/4" ad for the 1948 Oldsmobile Futuramic '98'. We see a drawing of a Yellow Four-Door with a couple looking like they are going out on a Sunday trip as the word FUTURAMIC is angled above their car. The ad text tells us that "This is the first of the Futuramic cars - the Series '98' Oldsmobile for 1948. This is the car that brings truly functional design to the automotive field - the car that offers styling every bit as modern as GM Hydra-Matic Drive. And that's saying a lot! For Hydra-Matic Drive - powered, perfected and proved by Oldsmobile - is the famous General Motors feature that banished gear shifting in the forward speeds and eliminated the clutch pedal completely. Today, Hydra-Matic Drive is available (at extra cost) in all new Oldsmobile models - both the Futuramic Oldsmobile '98' and the Dynamic Oldsmobile '60' and '70'. This year, as always...'It's SMART to Own an Olds". | March 29, 1948 Life magazine |
