Oldsmobile 88 - Full color 9 1/2" x 13" ad that is "Announcing the new "88", another Futuramic with new Rocket engine!". There is a picture of a very sparsely traveled city highway with a Green Two Door Olds 88 occupied by two ladies closest to the reader. The text introduces this as the "third new Futuramic line for 1949" and talks about the Oldsmobile Rocket engine and features are now in a "lower price range". It mentions more of the features, including the "Hydra-Matic Drive with Whirlaway as standard equipment" before again mentioning "Oldsmobile's revolutionary new high-octane, eight cylinder engine". My, how times have changed. Now the ad for a car will emphasize that it runs on the cheaper, regular gas rather than than a more expensive "High Octane" fuel.

Oldsmobile Delmont 88 - Full color 9 1/2" x 13" ad that shows a man in a suit standing next to a Blue-Green Two-Door Oldsmobile Delmont 88 and under the headline that states "If you can try one and not buy one, brother, have you got willpower". That power of positive thinking is furthered by their words too. "That's because the youngmobiles have so many great things going for them this year. Like a new look. Fresh. Clean. Bold as they come. And extra performance from a whole new generation of more powerful, more economical Rocket V-8s. New built-in features. Like hideaway windshield wipers. Side marker lights. Reassuring new General Motors safety items. And all the other new availabilities Olds puts at your disposal. Like a Tilt-and-Telescope Steering Wheel with an "Instant Horn" that honks when you squeeze the wheel". Yes, the Oldsmobiles were getting "up-there" in additions.

The ad headline asks you to "Join Oldsmobile's Great 88 Escape. Great time to give common cars the slip". The ad then says that "Uncommon value always moves ahead of price in an Olds 88. This one gives you added security with rugged new guardrails built into the doors. And an anti-theft steering column lock. Added convenience with a push-button ashtray and turn-knob glove compartment. So add them into the plusses you get in the big-car world of an 88. Along with looks. Size. Big-Car ride.
